Celebrate this vibrant tradition with a day full of cultural performances, art-making activities, face painting, a communal altar, and more! Enjoy the lively atmosphere as we honor our ancestors through music, dance, and community. Bring the whole family and immerse yourself in the beauty of Día de los Muertos!
Highlights of the Day Include:
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Procession by Atl Tlachinolli (Meet at 5th Avenue between 104 and 105th Streets)
1:00 PM – Event starts at El Museo, opens with a blessing of the communal altar from Atl Tlachinolli.
1:15 PM – Communal altar for public engagement opens following the blessing from Atl Tlachinolli. The altar will be available for visitors to engage with throughout the day
1:30 PM – 4:00 PM – Face painting for children (ages 12 and under only), featuring sugar skull designs
1:30 PM – 4:30 PM – Art workshops led by El Museo educators and volunteers
1:45 PM – Performance in the courtyard by Mazarte Dance Company
2:30 PM – Performance in the courtyard by Mariachi Bohemio NYC
3:00 PM – Performance on the the 3rd Floor by Mariachi Bohemio NYC
3:15 PM – Performance in the courtyard by Mazarte Dance Company
4:00 PM – Performance in the courtyard by Mariachi Bohemio NYC
4:30 PM – Doors open to El Teatro for the culminating performance
5:10 PM – Cultural Performance in El Teatro with Calpulli Mexican Dance Company
6:00 PM – Event ends
