Communities across Connecticut are preparing to take part in a nationwide demonstration known as the Free America Walkout on Tuesday, January 20. The coordinated protest calls on people to walk out of schools, workplaces, and daily routines in opposition to policies under President Donald Trump’s administration and to advocate for civil rights, democracy, and protections for immigrant communities.
The walkout is being organized by grassroots activists affiliated with Free America, a national movement focused on defending democratic values and challenging what organizers describe as authoritarian policies. Additional details about the organizers, goals, and national actions can be found at www.freeameri.ca.
Organizers say the protest reflects growing concern among communities of color, immigrants, and working families who feel disproportionately impacted by federal enforcement practices and government decisions. The Free America Walkout aims to unite people across the country in a peaceful show of solidarity and resistance.
Participants are encouraged to demonstrate safely, lawfully, and respectfully while making their voices heard alongside communities nationwide.
